A few rules of thumb. If your unit is under five years old and the fault is something simple like a thermostat, an element, or a valve, repair is usually the right call. If it’s over ten years old (more than likely out of warranty period), the tank is leaking, or the repair cost is more than half the price of a new unit, replacement makes more sense.

Most jobs sit somewhere in these ranges, depending on what you need:

• Continuous flow gas units: $1,800 to $3,200 installed
• Storage gas and electric units: $2,000 to $3,600 installed
• Heat pumps: $4,600 to $6,800 installed (with the STC rebate already applied where eligible)
• Major service every 4 to 5 years: $795 to $980

Most days, yes. If you ring before lunchtime, we can usually have someone on site that afternoon. If we’re flat out, we’ll be straight with you and book first thing the next day. We don’t muck you around.

No. Our reputation is built on the opposite. We work out what fits your house and your family, and that’s what we recommend. If your old 170L unit was working fine for the household, we won’t push you into a 250L just to bump up the price.

For storage gas and electric units, Rheem is our most-reliable brand — Australian made, strong tank warranty, sized to suit Perth households. We also service all the major brand (ie. Rheem, Vulcan, Thermann and Rinnai).

We also pride ourselves in being trained to install and service – unlike many of our competitors. 

For heat pumps, we install Rheem Ambiheat at the premium end and EnviroSun in the mid-range.

If you’ve already got a unit from another brand, we can almost certainly service or repair it.

Most replacements take three to four hours from when we arrive on site. So if we get there by mid-morning, you have hot water by lunchtime. Repairs are usually quicker, often done the same visit.

Storage units hold a tank of hot water ready to go. Common sizes for Perth: 125L or 135L for couples and small families, 170L for medium households, and 330L for larger families or anyone who hates running out of hot water in the morning.

Continuous flow heats on demand so you never run out, though the flow rate matters for households with two showers running at once. We’ll talk you through which fits your house on site.

Heat pumps run on electricity but use roughly a third of the power of a standard electric storage unit. Real-world running costs sit around $42 a year if you have solar PV on the roof, or around $246 a year without solar. Compare that to an electric storage unit which can run over $1,000 a year.

Yes. Removal and disposal of the old unit is included in the replacement quote. You will not be left with a busted hot water tank in the side-yard.

Either Josh or one of the licensed trademen on the team. Whoever comes out is briefed on the job before they arrive, walks you through the diagnosis, agrees the price with you on site, does the job and will stick around until the install is done and the site is tidy.

We’ll text you when the plumber leaves the previous job, so you know roughly when we’re arriving. And when their on the way, live tracking is available too. If you can’t be home, we can usually work with someone else over the phone to walk through the diagnosis and the quote. Card payment over Stripe means you don’t need to be on site to settle up.
